Marisol Ramirez Bio
"Salsa continues the ancient traditions of aural learning, of cleansing your sorrows in dance as your carried away by the beat." -Willie Colon, ¡Musica! For years, Marisol Ramirez has had an undeniable passion and desire to dance. As a young girl she was exposed to African dance, Ballet, Contemporary & Latin Dances such as Merengue, Bachata, & Salsa. Over time her desire grew stronger, leading her to participate in many school dance performances. With the experience she gained, she realized that her talent for dance was accompanied with a natural gift for both choreography and performance (a gift she would put into practice in the years to come). During her early twenties Marisol had developed a special interest in Salsa dancing. Her inclination led her to La Salsa De Hoy Dance Studio in Brooklyn, NY. In July of 1999 Marisol started taking salsa dance classes @ La Salsa De Hoy under the instruction of Carlos Vazquez (owner and founder of La Salsa De Hoy Dance Studios) & Ray Colon (sometimes referred to as one of Brooklyn's best kept secrets). |

Almost instantly her talent and infectious energy became all the buzz. Many admired this young woman's ability to take the fiery dance of salsa and ignite it. With a salsa dance team in the works @ La Salsa De Hoy, it was no surprise when Marisol was asked to participate. In 2000, The Revelation Dance Co. was formed under the direction of Cecilia 'CC' Williams, one of Salsa's elite dancers and performers, who has been in the off Broadway show 'Latin Madness' (three years running). During her time with The Revelation Dancers, Marisol had the opportunity to work with known choreographer Nydia Ocasio, who introduced her to the invigorating roots of Latin Dance-Rhumba, Bomba & Yambu. She was also introduced to other dance genres like hip-hop, jazz & belly dancing. Being on a dance team was an unforgettable experience that allowed her to travel the country.
Marisol's dance resume includes Salsa Congresses in New York, Los Angeles & Montreal. She participated in numerous parades, colleges and showcases throughout New York City, as well as fundraising events.
The Revelation Dance Company was a place in which she continued to learn about and cultivate her talent. She continued to seek instruction @ La Salsa De Hoy and with Mambo's legendary Eddie Torres. After a year and a half of dancing professionally, she decided to put her skills to the test. She began teaching in various locations around Brook`lyn, including several fitness facilities, childrens summer camp programs and dance studios. In September of 2001, after observing how Marisol had developed as a dancer and as a professional, Carlos Vasquez offered her an instructor's position making her one of the first female instructors at La Salsa De Hoy.
Marisol reluctantly departed from The Revelation Dancers to pursue her instructor's career (as well as to concentrate on her academic career). Becoming an instructor, was yet another step towards success for Marisol. In 2002, not only was she asked to become a dancer and choreographer for up and coming salsero Wilson Ramos, Marisol was also offered the position of director and choreographer of La Salsa De Hoy's children's dance team-"Los Salseritos"! After choreographing their first number, Los Salseritos competed and won first place at the Nutrament 2003 dance competition at the renowned SouthStreet Seaport. They also performed alongside the famous salsero Jimmy Bosch and Goerge Lamond. In late 2003 she was asked again to wear her dual dancer-choreographer hat for up and coming artist SexAppeal.
Marisol has always been known for her beautiful and unique ladies styling, admired by many for her irrepressible energy and exquisite, poetic movement on the dance floor, so it is no wonder that her undeniable talent coupled with all the success Marisol has had thus far, would urge her to bring to the public her own creation, her dream, representative of all her hard work and dedication-The Latin Fever Dance Studio."Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it" -Buddha
